Aeronauticus (2004)
ink and acrylic on paper
20 x 60 cm.
This was my first successful foray into what I call the fractured picture plane approach to drawing. That series of works used heavy line to break up the picture plane and allow the integration of many different images into a single artwork. A sort of graphic short story in one piece. Aeronauticus was inspired by the 100th anniversary of the Wright Brother's first flight and is an abstract and surrealistic fusion of 20th century technologies. The images and choice of words hint that all advances come at a price.
